Cauliflower and Broccoli Gratin

  • 1/2 medium cauliflower, cut in to florets
  • 1 head broccoli, cut in to florets
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 2 cups low fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) grated reduced fat cheese
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese


  1. Steam vegetables for 6-8 minutes until tender and place in an ovenproof dish
  2. In a saucepan, mix cornflour with a little milk to form a paste, stir in remaining milk and bring to the boil, stirring until thickened
  3. Add cheese and nutmeg and pour over vegetables
  4. Top with breadcrumbs and Parmesan Cheese
  5. Grill for 3-4 minutes until golden brown or bake in a moderate oven for 15-20 min
